Join us for Durham Region’s Black History Month celebration on February 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex in Pickering, for Together We Rise Durham: Black History, Intersectionality and Joy!
The evening will showcase talented performers including the Lift Your Voice Choir, Ngoma Ensemble and Riddim Cultural Arts Program; and conclude with a conversation among panel members on Black History, and how intersectionality and Black joy have shaped their professional and personal life experiences. Refreshments will be served.

This month honours and celebrates the contributions that Black Canadians have made to the country; acknowledges the present day impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and slavery in Canada; and continues to advocate for the dismantling of anti-Black racism in Canada.
